Dog Handler

Position Summary

Our dog handlers are responsible for the supervision, control and management of daycare and boarding dogs and ensuring the safety of the playgroup. Team members are expected to complete the required training programs to ensure proper skills and knowledge to evaluate the overall health of the dog, supervise play, how to immediately break up unwanted dog escalations/fights and administer basic first aid when needed. Responsibilities also include the maintenance and daily cleaning of the play room area and boarding rooms as well as other areas of the facility as assigned. Handlers will also be responsible for meals, medicine administration, treats and other daily tasks associated with our overnight guests.

Job Requirements

Job Responsibilities

  1. Dog Management
  • Be able to identify and call dogs by name within the play group.
  • Identify “best friends” (and those that don’t want to be friends) within playgroups and provide feedback to manager for play group assignments/distribution
  • Interact with dogs in playgroups using appropriate toys and tools to ensure safe levels of play and minimizing stress levels of all dogs in the playgroup
  • Maintain visual observation of dogs at all times and spread attention and play among all dogs in playgroup
  • Control levels of play by following dog management and control procedures and instructions provided by management
  • Use proper dog handling techniques as instructed by management
  • Use appropriate praise and dog correction methods
  • Watch all new dogs carefully and immediately consult with management if you have any concerns
  • Prepare dogs for pick up by 4:30 daily
  • Food and medication distribution for am and pm shifts (logging activity in Gingr) 
  • Maintain playroom as instructed by the checklist
  • Complete all wellness checks and incident reports in a timely manner
  1. Cleaning Duties
  • Complete general cleaning duties as posted or assigned
  • Scoop dog waste and mop up accidents immediately
  • Coordinate with roaming Handler to keep mop bucket clean throughout the day.
  • Properly clean playroom daily as instructed by management
  • Properly clean outside area as instructed by management
  • Properly dispose of trash daily
  • Clean water bowls, equipment and toys properly and return to play area for the next day
  • Clean boarding rooms (vacuum, mop, change linen, scrub walls and equipment)
  • Laundry

Front Desk

Full-Part Time / Hourly

Position Summary

Our front desk person is key to our business. As the first person a client sees when they walk in our door or the person they speak to when they call our main phone, they are the face and voice of our company. Our front desk person must also be friendly, outgoing and have great people skills. Their job is to keep things running in a timely and smooth fashion.

Job Responsibilities

  • Answer main DGF phone line and provide easy to follow, timely, accurate information to our customers. 
  • Greet clients, ensure their interaction with DGF and Gingr are enjoyable and they leave feeling like all of their needs were met.
  • Seek feedback from customers as to how we can make their experience better and share with the Manager.
  • Check dogs in and out daily, monitor playgroup counts and communicate to Manager 
  • Schedule reservations (daycare, boarding & grooming) within designated parameters
  • Look for opportunities to sell additional services (i.e. baths, nail trims, private training, harnesses, etc)
  • Maintain a clean and inviting front desk and lobby area
  • Maintain accurate client and dog information
  • Efficiently navigate Gingr (service operating system) and be able to assist customers navigating customer portal (will train)
  • Run reports to support handler assignments as well as manager monitoring
  • Maintain veterinary records, follow up with customers that have out of date records to keep them current
  • Update wellness records for boarding dogs in Gingr daily (wellness checks performed by Handlers)
  • Update various social media sites (and customer links) with daily/weekly pictures of our guests
  • Monitor DGF@doggonefunmi.com emails and forward to appropriate person to respond or respond and close out email.
  • Ensure completion for daily, weekly and monthly tasks
  • Other duties as assigned

Overnight attendant

Full-Part Time / Hourly

Position Summary

Our overnight position is one that requires you to be able to work independently and have good work ethics. As the only person on staff at that time your responsibilities will vary. Primary responsibilities include monitoring of our overnight guests and caring for any needs they may have, cleaning various areas of the building, laundry and preparing play areas, grooming room and main lobby for morning activity.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to bend, squat, run and physically react in a prompt manner
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Reliable transportation
  • Able to work independently and unsupervised
  • Ability to assess a situation and respond accordingly within parameters provided by management
  • Ability to transport a dog in case of emergency
  • Proactively identify ways to improve process and/or customer service

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure the building is locked and secured each night.
  • Monitor boarding dogs and respond to any needs they may have (i.e. clean them and the room up if they have an accident, if they look sick call for assistance, if they are anxious try to calm them down, etc)
  • In the event of a dog emergency, transport the dog to the designated after hours emergency vet.
  • Cleaning as directed by management
  • Able to follow an outlined worked detail as directed by management

Professional Dog Groomer

If you are outgoing, love dogs and love to work with great people our grooming position might just be the job you are looking for. Dog Gone Fun is looking for an experienced, creative person with great work ethics, patience, dependability and a team attitude.

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years grooming experience required 
  • Compassion and patience and the ability to calm and soothe our guests
  • Ability to bend, squat, run and physically react in a prompt manner
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Professionally perform grooming services as requested by clients (photos of grooming results or client reviews preferred)
  • Performing services include bathing, haircuts, trimming of nails etc.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary work area
  • Able to work independently and unsupervised 
  • Ability to spend long periods of time on your feet
  • Proactively identify ways to improve process and/or customer service
